Tawheed of Worship

Tawheed of Worship

Many religions around the world already acknowledge there is a God, but have been still been subdued by Satan into ascribing partners to Him.

They state the Creator is above the heavens, providing His creation, and most of them correctly claim that there is only one God. In other words, they believe in Tawheed of Allah’s Lordship. But unfortunately most religions have misplaced Tawheed of Allah’s Worship by worshiping other beings and objects (creation of Allah) instead of the only One who is worthy of worship.

Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah in position." Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed, Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever. [Quran 39:3]

We learn from Allah’s Speech above that people who pray and ask other gods do not necessarily do it because they disbelieve in Allah, but on the contrary, they know and understand that Allah exists, and that He is their Lord; however, instead of directly asking Him, they assigned others as their intermediaries and erroneously worshiped them, leading themselves away from what they wanted to achieve in the first place, being close to Allah.

Allah is the All-Hearer and All-Seer, which means that anything we say or do directly reaches Him and since He is the only One who can benefit us, there is no need for intercessors, intermediaries, or any other false gods. Allah is the only One who deserves any form of worship.

And they worship other than Allah that which neither harms them nor benefits them, and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allah " Say, "Do you inform Allah of something He does not know in the heavens or on the earth?" Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him. [Quran 10:18]

To further drive the point home, consider this scenario: You own a large farm and you hire someone to help you with the chores. You pay the individual regularly but notice the animals are not being properly fed, and the crops are not being harvested. After some investigation you find your employee doing the work of neighbor’s farm instead, actively taking care of his animals and harvesting his crops on time, all the while you are the one paying him, eating together at the same table, and giving him a roof over his head. To put it mildly, you would have been wronged.

Now if we were to replace some players in the story: Allah is the Owner of the heavens and the earth and everything in it. He is the One who not only gives us food, water and shelter, but the means to sustain ourselves. From the moment we reside in the wombs of our mother, we are protected, cared for and given blessings we cannot even count.

Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded? And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. [Quran 16:17-18]

And like our unfaithful employee, some instead of thanking and worshiping the Most Merciful, they direct their attention away from Allah and onto beings of inconsequential worth, worshiping and asking objects that cannot bring any benefit or harm to anyone, and who will also perish when the Creator wills.

In a Nutshell

Allah is our Maker and Provider, and He alone deserves our worship
