Resurrection, really?

Resurrection, really?

Life and death are decreed by the Creator and resurrection is no different. It is easy for Allah to bring dead back to life on the Day of Resurrection, or give life to barren earth.

And it is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds, and We drive them to a dead land and give life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Thus is the resurrection. [Quran 35:9]

In some areas winter ravages the land turning lush green trees to frail barks. Life gets stripped from the plants until the advent of spring, when the same dead-like branches that easily break with a slight snap, restore blooming bright leaves and flowers calling back the bee and insect ecosystem. The same can be said when drought-ridden land gets rejuvenated with rain, returning life to infertile land. This is an example Allah uses to illustrate resurrection, a sign for those willing to step back and reflect.

Yet in spite of such examples people have mocked the concept of resurrection. The disbelievers at the time of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) similarly questioned how man will come back to life after his bones have turned to dust. What they failed to acknowledge is that making something from scratch with no prior blueprint is a lot more difficult than recreating something, and Allah does both things by His Will.

And certainly did We create man from an extract of clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators. Then indeed, after that you are to die. Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected. [Quran 23:12-16]

Allah created the first man, gave him a human body, a soul, and setup a system to increase in number via tiny cells, the end product being distinct individuals each having a unique DNA, personality, and soul. By pondering over the verses of the Quran we can appreciate the intricacies involved with the process of creation, so then how can resurrection be denied when it will similarly be done with ease by Allah?

As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it… [Quran 21:104]

Day of Resurrection

LIFE ISN'T FAIR!All lot of people...

Don't we hear this phrase from time to time? We've said it ourselves. The simple answer would be yes, only if we don't understand the purpose behind the Day of Resurrection (aka Day of Judgment).

Along with Allah being very merciful and oft forgiving, He is also the Just which means we will be fairly compensated for every deed we sow. Therefore if one is harmed for no justifiable reason, like money being stolen, or someone was oppressed, or even killed with no consequence for the transgressor in this world, then how can this be fair? That is where understanding the Day of Resurrection puts the heart at ease.

After we are resurrected we will be standing before our Lord with our record of deeds open for all to witness. All we did in this life has been meticulously recorded by angels, and we will be held accountable for everything in it. Our limbs will likewise speak and testify for us or against us. It is on the Day of Resurrection where the oppressed will be compensated fairly against the oppressor, all debts of any kind will be cleared, and the great justice of Allah along will His unbound mercy will be clear.

And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, "Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?" And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one. [Quran 18:45]

Similarly those who believe in Allah and His Messenger (pbuh), and perform righteous deeds will proudly receive their book of deeds in their right hands. No action they did no matter how small is hidden from Allah, and He will reward those who strove to please Him. The more they persevered the higher their ranks will be in the hereafter.

Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will be judged with an easy account, and return to his people in happiness. But as for he who is given his record behind his back, he will cry out for destruction and [enter to] burn in a Blaze. Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. [Quran 84:7-15]
